Oceanic Emergencies Medical Training


The ocean is an amazing environment that transports the ones who dare to delve into its deepths to a fancy world in which time passes with a unique rithm.

However, it furnishes specific challenges and dangers that are to be avoided with the OEMT.

The OEMT offers the basics in terms of medical assistance in an oceanic environment.

 

PHASE ONE

Several diving basic issues are addressed, such as barothrauma, bends, nitrogenic narcosis, lung affections.

Moroever, some specific dangers of technical diving are also part of the programme (helitrox, trimix, heliair).

We also deliver an oveview of the basic reactions of the human body to high pressure and pressure change involved in a typical diving sequence.

PHASE TWO

Appart from studying specific issues concerning diving, the oceanic setting is analysed in depth in order to have the knowledge to be prepared for health menaces involving water species.

Shark bites, moluscs stings, poisonous fish, dehidratation, edible plants, among others.

GENERAL PHASE

In addition, the basic curriculum of First Responder is also revised. The main subjects are:

- CPR

- Using a dephibrillator

- Handling fractures

- Hypothermia

- Drowning

- Hyperbaric Chambers
